Sew Simple Valance

1 yard of super retro fabric awarded me this simple valance for my kitchen window.

Supplies needed:

$7: Fabric (amount depends on the size of your window)
$0: Thread (already had a matching color)
$2: Curtain rod (picked up the basic type at walmart)

Cut your fabric to size, accounting for the wrap around the rod if that’s the type you chose and allowing for a 1/2″ seam on each side and bottom, plus a 1 1/2″ for the top casing (this is where the rod will go). I like to fold and press the seams, then pin them all down.

Stitch a 1/4″ seam. Sew the sides first (all the way from top to bottom), then sew the top and bottom seams.

And seriously folks, it’s as easy as that. You’re done!
