December Daily 2017 >> pre-prep thoughts

Yep. I’m already thinking about December Daily. Yep, it’s only September 1st. I know – I know! But this Summer has been BRUTAL and we are experiencing another massive heat wave in CA. As this is being published, the high today in Northern Ca is 111*. DUDE – STOP ALREADY!

We have been given teeny sneaks here and there from our favorite manufacturers and while that is always a huge part of the excitement in prepping for the documenting – it’s really the documenting that needs attention first.

So,  what I’m thinking for 2017 is change.

Here are the things I know for sure:

  • Decembers are nuts because of my job.
  • I don’t know how much decorating I will get to do because we live in a small apartment this year.
  • We don’t always do December-y things every day of the month.
  • I don’t want to feel behind because I can’t always work on my album during the week.
  • I want to be done with my album within the month of January. (btw, I have never NOT completed a DD album so this goal is completely attainable)
  • I also know I LOVE the 6×8 size I have done the last few years. LOVE.
I’ll definitely be continuing with this size.

One year I even did an Alpha style album and I have been tempted every year to do this again. But it’s a lot to manage and I found it hard to complete a page unless I had taken & developed the photos I had listed for that letter. Here are some posts about that year >> December Daily 2015 & December Daily 2015 Prep

Again I am tempted to do the alpha approach. Very temped, in fact. I love the idea of capturing new visuals of my very favorite tried & true Christmas themed things. And now that I am printing photos at home I have the freedom to snap and print any dang thing and time I wish. =)

But oh the linear goodness of chronology.

One day at a time. Small chunks. Bite sized pieces to work on little by little.

And this my friends is when I decide that even though change can be cool and fun – it can also bring on more work & stress than necessary. And in the case of December Daily, I’d like to make things as easy as possible.

Now that my method is clear and decided on – we need #allthesupplies! But it’s only September and we’re getting little sneaks right now. Before we know it we will all be fawning over everyone’s December printables and die cuts and papers – and I LOVE this part.

I think I’ll save this for another blog post because I am not set on my theme or colorway yet. I know I’ll be receiving collections and kits from Felicity Jane and Elle’s Studio as a DT member, so I need to make sure those coordinate somehow and then I will add on with digital kits and other kits available that I feel go with the overall look and feel I want. I’ll also have the Illustrated Faith Advent collection which I am thinking I will use for Bible Journaling and not DD because it has some super fun non-traditional Christmas colors and I would love to do an advent TN or something. Which is interactive, chunky, full of stuff inside and outside of pockets and lots of yummy colors.

Who else is excited about December even though we haven’t even had Pumpkin Pie yet?

See you soon,
Andrea
